Default questions about factory tune

I am old school and I am not wicked knowledgeable with computer tuning. I had a few questions. I believe my car may have been tuned at some point and I want to restore it to factory specs. Specifically, the car idles as if it has a ton of intial timing. If my vehicle had a custom tune at some point, is there any way for me to reset it to factory specs without special equipment? Or, can I adjust the timing? If not, I am located in Mansfield Mass, is anyone out there that has a tuner and that would be willing to help me out with this for cash?

thanks.

depends on what kind of car this in reference to. most all of us go see Slowhawk Performance. They have a thread of their own on here, or I'm sure you can call or email them directly if they don't see this and reply.

messages no call backs go figure.......

how can you tell its got high timing at idle? or a custom tune for that matter? the best way to know if its one of those canned tunes like a hypercrap or something is the fans come on Way early. around 190 instead of the 225 gm has them set at.

For you - always

Don't remember any messages recently that were not returned. Some days we get 20+ messages and I miss some.Hard part of 2 people working and no one at the desk.

E-mail or PM here is always better to ask questions.

I Just dont understand the whole thing. I miss the days of custom chips when you could just swap em out. I cant say that it has been tuned for sure but I know what a car runs like with too much initial timing. Usually they ping, they knock, they idle rough like they have a small vacuum leak.. I wasnt aware of the fans coming on early as a sign of anything. also, my car runs cooler than I think it should. sometimes when crusing back roads it will only heat up to about 160-175ish even after running for more than an hour. also, i feel like it idles rough I know the ls1 is know for shivery idle but I want it smoother. usually when you retard timing you can get a gen 1 smallblock to idle like its not even running. IDK about these engines tho.. guess I need to call in a pro. I will email slohawk off board. no disrespect intended sir I just know how it is to be busy.

no biggie. You just need someone like myself to look over the car and read the computer. I can tell you in no time what is done to the car.

Chips are crap from the past. Todays stuff is lightyears ahead.
