It cracks me up that they'll let post 88 cars in IF they get to see the car and determine if it meets their high standards, like anything newer is bound to be a heap. But any old pre 88 car can just waltz right in? Give me a break. We should all go to the junkyard and buy ratted out 3rd gens and show up with those.

I just found out today that one of the guys helping to put on the show happens to be a good family friend of my soon to be in-laws. After speaking to him today about it, I was told that they will be turning away guys with the pre 88 shitboxes at the gate. We both agreed that this is what killed the Summer Nats.

As for the newer models, I am sure they can add classes such as street stock, limited modified by years, etc. But as with anything, it comes with added cost the more classes and sub classes you add.

But the main point right now is that this is their first year and there will be a learning curve. That would hopefully act as a stepping stone to open it up for more guys and model years for next year. But obviously if they get a shit response from it, you can guarantee they won't be doing anything to expand, or possibly continue it for the years to come.

And yes I agree, Worchester is a shithole, looking at houses outside of the city because I am so tired of it. Won't get into the politics of it because I could write a damned volume of books hahaha!

I agree with you 100% on this one, but they had to start somewhere. A new show will always have growing pains. I'm sure they debated over the year brake and that's what they thought was being fair. If they said 1977 people would bitch, if they said 2001 others would bitch, if they said 2012 more would bitch. If they allowed everything then people would bitch too. Wasn't that EXACTLY what everyone on here was bitching about when it came to the Summer Nats?

Again, I agree with you on this point too, but it's their show. This is another perfect example of the Summer Nats. Everyone bitched about to many "regular" cars being allowed in there. Why does someone (spectator/entrant) think their car is ok but other's cars aren't? You can never please everyone, so all you can do is try your best. I've never been to a show that everyone was happy, but the best shows I've ever been to have had "requirements" and pictures were needed.

I have a 1969 Camaro that isn't allowed in some shows and I have a 2004 GTO that isn't allowed in others, but I don't bitch about it. There are also some shows that I wouldn't even think of entering my cars in, because I don't consider them nice enough to show, although lots of people think the cars look great.

I'm just trying to maybe give you another person's view of the situation, because I set car events up every year myself and you probably have no idea how hard it is to make certain decisions when you're trying to make people happy.

I know what you mean. I actually never complained about the summer nats. I enjoyed it for what it was. I guess Im just cofussed on their logic, I understand the concept but think its retarded. I know the Right coast guys do pre 1980 and love going to their shows. Even the show in orange is pre 1972, and that makes sense to me. But 1988? Lol

According to BigMac they will be turning cars away at the gates. I would be pissed if I showed up and didnt meet their standards. Im happy with where my car has been at. But if I just spent 50-100 in fuel to get there only to be turned away someone would be footing my bill thats for sure. Sure its nice to look at mint resto cars but I much more enjoy seeing people mid stream projects. I mean how many times can you look at a dozen restored camaros. After the first hour Im bored lol. To me it seems like they should be doing a one day car show, not a weekend event. I understand its their first year doing it but honestly, how hard is it to have a good concept? Its not like shows have never been done before.

Meant to say that the ones who are not pre-registered and are trying to register on site. On site registrations will be subject to their approval. 95% of the guys who pre-register aren't going to be showing up in a rusted out 74 Mustang with a 302 in it just to burn off some tires. These are the guys who meticulously take care of their cars.

And yes I do know what goes into planning car shows, from the age of 15 when I built my first Camaro I was involved in a local car club, Rail Cities Cruisers. We hosted 3 events every year, a spring fling to get all the guys together in the area and also turned into a poker run for those who wanted to go.
The main show was the 4th of July weekend at a local park that had upwards of 500 cars at our biggest turnout. That show included muffler rapping contests and burnout runs just for fun and a silly little trophy. Both of which were judged by spectator voting.
And the final event was a cruise-in for a charity cause, it was never the same, but always was to benefit somebody who was a lot less fortunate than any of us were.

Yes it can be a pain in the ass and you'll never please everybody. There were times where we had people take off all pissed. Had one because he entered a 92 Vette in the mild street custom class just because he had a borla exhaust. Mind you this was in 92, so it was a brand new car just off the showroom floor. He was pissed because he was asked nicely to move classes to the showroom floor class, yes that was the actual name of it, anything with no more than 3 mods and 2 model years from actual date.

Just have to wait and see what it turns out to be. Shit couldn't be any worse than the Summer nats were when they were here.
