youll need more than that as far as stall is concerned.
and billet really isnt what you need (waste of money IMO).
just with the 4:11 rear 3000 minmum.
I thought you were gonna do a cam change later on instead so the little woman can enjoy the car????
but IMO its cheaper to do a converter change.
talk to your local (trustworthy)mechanic and have him take it for a drive and see what he thinks????
I should have let ya take my car for a spin to see what the properly selected converter feels like.
Dawg, The camshaft and converter should be matched and with my luck, it won't match up unless I find out what the cam is first.

stall too high = unnecessary heat for the trans
stall too low = performance suffers

The cam change might be the right way to go but I'd really like to find out what cam is in there first.

But thats just me. and you can Deffinetly get the converter you NEED. and not what some old bastard thinks you should get.... Yes im talking to YOU DAWG!!!! BAAAAHHHHHHHHAHAHAHA

you can get the cam specs close in the car, but why go through the trouble? swap in a 4 speed.....DONE! (prolly $$$ close to a modern cam and converter swap)

I would like the wife to be able to drive it when the 69 is done and teaching her to drive a standard would be horrible.

True, but it's one of the things I really like about this site!!! That you get opinions from people that have tried different things and found out what works, and what doesn't and are willing to give their advice. Not that it's all good, but without someone offering an opinion sometimes I have no idea where to start from.
