why not run guide plates and reg roller rockers? It's tried and true.....

Spooky 08-23-2010 04:39 AM

were the Rhodes solids or rollers? Back in the day Rhodes were quality stuff but there were no rollers yet.

Hey mike, look at it as a blessing in disguise.

I like to look at parts failure as "forced upgrades time". Now's the time for a good set of heads, hell, while you're at it go up on the cam too. With a good bottom end already in there there's no reason not to look at this as a reason to make another 40-50rwhp all said and done.

Screw it, seasons almost over anyhow. Park it and come out with a bang next year.

ILuvPizzaTimes10 08-23-2010 03:37 PM

i dont want to park it. haha i dont want better faster. i want my fucking car back. i dont NEED to go fast i want an 11.5 street car. i almost have that with my heads. i think if tjhe rocker was failing on the track that day wich im sure it was that damage doesnt happen over night. then it will run a little quicker. ill get my 11.5 this year if i get this shit fixed HOPING by october. but money is also another issue. this shit is getting pricey lately.

and they were Rhoads OE Rollers. they couldnt take the 410lb springs i had. nothing in there paper work or online descriptions that sed they would have failed with my setup. ahh well.

My springs are a tick more pressure and I use the comp pro mag lifters.

Any clue what you're looking at for a parts list?

ILuvPizzaTimes10 08-23-2010 04:12 PM

i have LS7 lifters. gunna run Lunati 440lb springs that are made for this cam. the comp mags are a little lighter then the cam card asks for. retainers/keeper. and a set of rockers i havent decided on yet. on top of a head gasket set and a couple valves.

c4boom 08-23-2010 05:21 PM

to bad the set of springs i have sitting next to me may be a bit tame for your motor
install 1.780" seat pressure 130
1.50 height is 250
1.25 height is 345#
and coil bind is 1.0625
with a 1.25 diameter.
they have a 2.125 free high
so if you shim them to 1.07 or so they will have about 415 open pressure and about 170 seat pressure with a 580 lift cam

damn I was thinkin about picking up a set of those! how long did you run those before they failed?

my springs are rated at 420lbs open @ 1.150" ...but I'm confused on that rating, I only run .57X lift or does that have nothing to do w/ that rating? is that similar to your set up?

GL gettin it fixed up! we all have thoughts about sellin out at times so hang in there before you do somin you'll regret!!

ILuvPizzaTimes10 08-23-2010 09:03 PM

Those are pretty much my springs and lift specs. I mean they would have worked I think just fine if I didn't have self guided rockers. But the lifters still pitted the tops of my valves due to exess lash. I don't see they point in rhoads. Just get a good tune and any driveability you will see from them a tune will give you.
