Default Need advice. Drag tire for a M6 9 inch car!!!

All right Iam finally pulling the trigger on a ford 9 inch. Right now the car has prostars front and rear. 15x10 in the back with a 275/50/15 Nitto DR on it and its lowered in the rear about 1 inch.

A couple people told me that being a M6 car I should really switch to more of a wrinkle wall type drag tire like the E/T street or the QTP. My issue is that I only have these wheels and I do like to take the car out on the street to local shows and drive it too the track. Its by no means a DD. So here are my questions

1. Iam leaning towards the 27x11.5x15 Hoosier QTP. Will it fit without any issues?

2. How well will it do on the street?
3. Do I need this type of tire or can just stay with a DR instead?

well dont get caught with drag radial on the street.
i seen a guy get his car impounded here and he got it back after getting new tires with receipt and pay impound fees.
he also had to pat a flatbed to pick up the car from the impound lot.
the M/T et street II is a soft compound and will fit your criteria.
http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/s...StreetRadialII
also wrinkle wall tires are dangerous on the street!
if your running radials up front you have to run radials on the back.
same holds true for bias ply tires.

Yeah the ET street radial is a good choice, but they are horrid in wet weather. If you drive it alot I'd stick with what you have. Nitto DR's are decent at the track, not like ET street radials or QTP's, but they won't kill you first time it rains. And if the car is hooking for you now it will still hook with a 9 inch rear if the gearing is similar. If you aren't going to get dedicated wheels for the street and the track I'd lean more toward a street tire then a race tire. You may put 20 miles a year on them at the track and several thousand on the road.

I would just get a set of street wheels and tires and call it good, leave your track tires on the Weld's

Batman is correct
E/t streets suck in the rain.
I got them and have to drive extra careful to not break the rear loose in turns.
another note is softer compound tires dont last that long.
If ya do a lot of burnouts etc. the E/T streets wont last a year.
I know I m working on my second set since last summer.

Yeah Ive run E/T street radials. I loved them and thats what I was considering if going to stick with a radial.

Thinking I will go back to the E/T street radials but the only issue is they come in 26 and a 28. The 28 I think will be too big. And the 26 I might run out of gear. Oh well.

Atleast the QTP comes in a 27 but its not a radial. Doh

i have the QTP's 27 11.5's they fucking WORK!!!!!!! id run a set of tire for the track. and a seperate set for the street. this way like the guys say you wont be dead wen it rains. Plus you shouldnt run a wrinkle wall on the high way they can over heat and explode.

thats exactly why I dont want to get a wrinkle wall right now. Well I def dont have the coin for another set of wheels now so looks like I will just by a set of M/T DRs and use them. Plus I really dont think the wrinkle wall is that nescessary.

Don't run ET streets or QTP on the street, just asking for trouble.

Stay with the tires you have now and buy a BMR extreme track bar. That will load the tires up more.

26" tall is fine.
