Default Opinions on Oil?

Just curious, what does everyone think about oil? Like what brands do you prefer, do you think "High mileage" oil makes a difference over standard. What makes a difference?

if you use high milage oil in a car with out high milage it makes no different. theres just more additives in the oil to help quite down old lifter and wrist pins and shit. IMO waiste of money. i use Mobil 1 10W30 year round. never had an issue and it always comes out almost as good as it goes in. granted i change the oil every 500-1000 miles BUT im anal. i say go with what you want. most all mineral oils pass the same standards as the other guy. not one that i have found was better or worse then the other if you change it wen your supposed to. i still dont believe the Hype with Royal Purple. and i think your just paying for a different color synthetic that passes again the same minimum standards that castrol and mobil have to pass. i really cant see any one brand going above and beyond for you. there all there to make money and thats it. Rant Over.

I used Mobil 1 till they got bounced to a tier 3 oil, the more I read about Castrol Syntec is by far the best bang for the buck out there. When it equaled or beat Royal Purple in every test I was sold
