Suggested for all manually shifted racecars, faceplating is a procedure very similar to proshifting, but much more durable and longer lasting. Faceplating completely eliminates the possibility of missing a shift by removing the stock synchronizers and opening up the engagement window for faster, higher rpm shifting. This is definitely the way to go if you have a T56 in your racecar and you're looking for the quickest shifts possible. Due to the harsh nature of this process, we do not recommend this option for cars that see any street driving.
If you go onto liberty transmission they say that they last much longer than proshifted and don't tend to burr up the gears like the proshifted but they still wear at a much much faster rate that synchros and need to be maintenanced just the same just last you a little bit longer.

They are pretty much mimicing what is done on motorcycles.Just harder the way you have to move the shifters.

No tranny is made to last when dog boned in any way.A dog bone setup works great,I use to have them cut like that for my bikes. The engagement will always wear down. This is why faceplated and liberty tranny's are mostly made for the track. A street car can make them last awhile because you are not powershifting in reguler driving. LPE has a ton of time and money. If they wanted to go real fast they would just run a powerglide and be done.
