Nice Alex. Trying living at 8200 above sea level for a year. For the first few month after I returned home I was never out of breath lol.

Well, the Civic sure hates it. I thought it was slow before but damn!!! I did notice walking around the top of a mountain outside Albuquerque at 10,600 ft that I found myself taking deeper breaths after walking up stairs and such. Haven't done any heavy exertion to see the full effects.

I'm in Flagstaff AZ right now, technically mountain time zone but they don't do daylight savings in AZ so I'm three hours behind. Grand Canyon tomorrow!

Three days later, I'm in Bishop, California now, north of Death Valley. Saw the Grand Canyon and Sedona AZ Thursday, the Hoover Dam and Las Vegas yesterday, and the Inyo National Forest in CA today. There are trees in the Inyo NF called bristlecone pines, they're the oldest living things on earth, some are over 4,000 years old.

Friday night in Vegas was pretty interesting.

I was cruising the strip, seeing the sights, got to the south end of the strip and stopped to take pics of the Welcome To Las Vegas sign. There's a black Ferrari parked there and a guy asks me if I want to take it for a ride. I'm thinking what scam is this, turns out he's a rep for Ferrari and they do stuff like this as a promotion. It's a 2005 360 Modena with a six speed paddle shifted clutchless trans. 15 minute test drive for $70. Hell the fuck yes!!!

The rep was a guy named Umberto from Brazil, he was a cool guy, we talked about cars for a while. He rode shotgun for the test drive. It's hard to describe the feel of driving it, it's definitely intense. The exhaust is loud and nasally. The steering and suspension is very firm and the road feel is awesome. The paddle shifting is interesting. The shifts don't really feel that quick, it almost feels like it jumps out of gear for a split second. At first I was shifting at about 3-4K. As you might expect from a 3.6 liter screamer it doesn't really have a lot of power down low. Once I had more of a feel for the shifting I downshifted to about 5K and rolled into it. The power comes in like a wave, it's not brute force like we are used to with F Bodies, it just pulls harder and harder and before you know it you're going 80. Just pure dumb luck I happened to stumble across this, otherwise I would have just gone to a casino or wandered around.

One week in and I've already seen and done more cool stuff than I can keep track of. Going to Death Valley tomorrow, well stocked on water and sunblock.

Man, if you had the time in Vegas, the Harley Davidson cafe was nasty!

Looks like you're having a great time man! Stay safe and yeah, hydrate like a bastard a few days before hitting Death Valley!

Alex....where are you now? Keep posting pics and updates. Things are boring in Granby CT and I need to live vicariously through your adventure across the USA.

Sorry for the lack of updates, I've been burning the candle at both ends almost every day and haven't had much time to document things properly. Right now I'm in Bend, Oregon. Just saw Crater Lake today, pretty spectacular. Since my last update I've been to Death Valley, Sequoia National Park, Yosemite National Park, San Francisco, the redwood forest, and a cave in Oregon, and maybe a few things I'm forgetting. Heading off to see Mount Hood tomorrow. David if you're on Facebook I did get some pics up there, send me a friend request at Alex Td.
