Well I believe the theory behind these specific pumps are they assist the driver less in order to reduce temps inside the pump and make your lines smooth (less steering input). I do not understand what you mean by understeer? Are you referring to the car pushing the front tires into a corner? If so this would have to do with your suspension setup and is irrelevant to the power steering pump.
