Last year we did a 5 day run through NY and PA. This will be our 7th multiple day trip and I can tell you that if you've never set something like this up, you would be amazed at all the little logistical stuff that needs to be planned out, to make sure your trip goes off well. Some of the things you need to watch out for, right up until almost your departure day, are..... Pre-planned alternate routes in case of any major road construction (which you have to know about before you leave), make sure lodging will be available for your planned days (checking to make sure there are no major events going on at the same time, that would eat up all the rooms), choosing roads that will be easy to keep your group together on, arrival and departure times can become pretty important and hard to keep on schedule, planned catch-up locations in case the group does get separated, allowable time for possible breakdowns, so you can still make it to your locations before nightfall, local area research because lots of places can look great online, but they don't show or talk about the ghetto behind your hotel. These are just some of the quick points. I know there are tons more that can be important, but they just come as second nature to me know that I've been doing it for so long. It might be worth your while to check us out (website or Facebook page). We have people join us from all over the eastern U.S and Canada every year. We always take all scenic routes and have interesting stops planned. Because we are guaranteed to have decent numbers, I am also able to set up contracts with our lodging locations and get discounted hotel rooms during peek weekends, without having to adhere to their usual minimum night stays. Our only requirements are that people aren't assholes and you drive American muscle. You can enjoy the trip without all the work. Also, if you take a trip like ours first, you can get an idea of what it takes to set one of you own up, in the future. there is a huge difference between an afternoon trip and a full multiple day run. |

Another thought.
You guys always plan a "rain date" for your cruises and seem to have a lot of people always backing out at last minute. With a multi-day cruise, you can't do that. You need solid commitments from people and have to go off rain or shine. Your lodging is a big part of that, not to mention people taking the time off from work for the trip. |

Thanks for the info.
As everyone here knows I have quite a bit of experience traveling and doing road trips. I've also been organizing and leading our Spring cruise for the past four years. So I'm well aware of the issues you brought up. If and when we do this it is going to be an NEFBA event. We have a great group of people here and I'm really proud of all the events we have put together, cruises, track days, car shows, even a few overnight weekend get togethers, as well as all the little meets we have throughout the year. I think we're ready to take another step forward and have some bigger events. |

Sounds good. Depending on how far you might want to travel on PA Route 6, the Grand Canyon on PA is an awesome take. NERR has done some nice cruises throughout that part of the state. Pocono and Bushkill are great areas too, although we usually spend most of our time in areas that are off the beaten path.

Route 6 is what I was planning this route around. Pine Creek Gorge is actually the proper name for the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon, that would be one of the stops.

why don't we do a notch/kagamakus/conway trip first?
