Well i gotta disagree so don't lock the thread. I have had alot of tires through my 5 fbodies and only dr i havn't tried is the mt's however nitto's are te worst when cold compared to them all. A good street tire like a michelin or goodyear etc are just as good as a nitto dr not warmed up. The bf or mickeys are only slightly better without them being warm. Next meet feel the nitto's when all the cars are parked then feel a good street tire you will notice a difference.

All I can say is I've had three tires on the back of my car: Nitto DRs, Nitto 555s and Mastercraft Avenger HPs. On a scale of 1-10 for traction on dry pavement at ~70 degrees I would rate them Nitto DRs - 9, Nitto 555s - 5 and Avenger HPs - 4. This is based on my experience with my car, normal (aggressive) street driving, never heating the tire before use. Maybe other people have had a different experience but I love them, it is one of the best things I have done for the car.

The mickeys don't need to be heated either.
I went from a regular 275/60/15 on the back of the 68 to a 275/60/15 et street radial and nearly shit myself. Never knew how fast the car really was until I put the mickeys on. Never once heated them but I could actually put the power down where anything over half throttle with regular tires in first or second gear was hazing the tires

what about driving in rain? I drive mine in the rain and I'm not a fan of hydroplaning my rear wheels on the highway lol

i have had more tires on the back of my ca and to date the best ALL Around tire has been the Shittos. no they dont hook cold. and no they arent the BEST at the track! But they are a Great around town in the rain and snow no issue tire.

Tough call. I had 600 horse, drag radials, and no defogger, so the car stayed park in wet weather lol.

I know my old bfg drag radials kinda sucked in the wet and the mt's have even less tread so I wouldn't imagine they'd be all that great in the wet either.

Basically if you want good all around drag radials from what I've heard go for the nitto's. If you want AWESOME traction, get the mt's. If you want to split the difference go for the bfg's.

Nitto DRs drive fine in the rain, no noticeable difference from regular street tires. They really are the best of both worlds. The traction is addictive. I have my 16s with regular street tires on the car right now and I almost can't even enjoy driving it. You have to experience the difference to appreciate it.

That and less air pressure. Also dr's definately not as affective in the rain since smaller tread depth and water disapation. I agree best overall but they are no wonder tire

Maybe it's a power thing. With ~400 ft/lbs at the wheels a Nitto DR might not really work any better than a street tire. But on my car with 280 rwtq it's just right.

As for the rain, they do have shallower tread, and less grooves. I expected some loss in wet traction but that hasn't really been the case. I drive with the TCS on when the roads are wet and it never kicks on driving normally, it still takes a decent amount of power to get them loose.

Obviously different people have different results with these tires, I guess it depends heavily on the car and what your expectations are.
